"Southern Exposure" is a Passive Solar Home in design, capturing the sun's warm rays, holding all that warmth in the insulated concrete floors; earth-bermed north-facing wall and heavily insulated roof. When it is 40 degrees outside, it is 71 inside, with no heat on. Be awed by the 360 degree Panoramic Valley Views, sun up to sun down. Privacy galore on 20 open acres, and less than 2 miles from Winthrop and Ski Trailheads. Feel free to snowshoe around the neighborhood with endless hills to venture. Because there are no pets, wildlife abounds.
As you arrive at the house, you will find a 2-car carport, with a covered entrance to the front door. (Good in winter). Immediately in the entry room, there is a 1/2 toilet, for freshening up, a place for outdoor gear, utility closet, and pantry. The house is artistically decorated. Inside is an open plan, with the kitchen, eating area, and living area in the same space. Heated by the sun, during the day, you don't need much heat at night. However there is a propane fireplace for heat, as well as electric heaters in each bathroom. (though the owner says that in 17 years she has yet to turn them on). Just outside this living area is a south-facing, wind-screened patio, with picnic table, chairs to snuggle in, a BBQ and hot tub. The owner says its her favorite nighttime place to be.
As you go down the hall, there are three rooms: the first is an office/extra sleeping room, which has a double click-clack bed. Next is the bedroom, with an outside door that leads to the hot tub. Finally is the 3/4 bath, with a walk-in closet/laundry room. The house is handmade, and artistic, just right for one, or two people. Come visit.
The driveway to the house is well-maintained, however in the winter an all-wheel, or 4-wheel drive car, with proper winter tires is advised.
